Job summary

A regional health authority in British Columbia is looking for a registered nurse to provide direct nursing care to patients in the Pediatric-Maternity unit. Candidates must be registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and have experience in medical-surgical areas, along with training in Pediatric, Perinatal, or Neonatal nursing to thrive in this dynamic healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • One year of recent related experience in medical-surgical clinical areas.
  • Experience or training in Pediatric, Perinatal or Neonatal nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide direct nursing care to admitted and/or stable patients.
  • Follow unit/program philosophy and competency guidelines.

Job description

Reports to the Manager or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to admitted and/or stable patients in the Pediatric-Maternity unit or hospital in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

Qualifications

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Clinical knowledge and skills related to Medical-Surgical programs.

One (1) year recent related experience in medical-surgical clinical areas, and experience or training in Pediatric, Perinatal or Neonatal nursing.

Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing Specialty Nursing Certification in Pediatric, Perinatal or Neonatal nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize assigned workload and set priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts, including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients, residents and families.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
