Trillium Health Partners is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 5J Neuro-step Down unit at the Mississauga Hospital site. You will support a fast-paced Neurosurgical ICU with high-acuity patients, engaging in advanced neurosurgical care and multidisciplinary teamwork.

The role requires active ongoing professional development, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize in emergencies. Candidates should possess BCLS, ACLS readiness, and a Critical Care Certificate pathway in progress;

Unit Summary

The Neuro-step down unit at Trillium Health Partners is part of a high-volume Regional Neuroscience program, delivering advanced Neurosurgical care in close collaboration with our regional partners. Our 12-bed specialty Neurosurgical ICU cares for patients requiring complex Neurosurgery, including Cranial surgeries, Endovascular treatments of Ruptured Aneurysm and AVMs and Endovascular Treatment of Ischemic Strokes

5J Neuro-step down offers a fast-paced, highly specialized clinical environment where nurses and interprofessional team members work at the forefront of Neurosurgical critical care. Team members gain exposure to high-acuity patients, cutting-edge surgical interventions, and the opportunity to develop deep expertise within a supportive, collaborative, and learning-focused unit at a busy regional referral centre.

Qualifications

• Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO
• Currently enrolled and have already commenced a recognized Critical Care Certificate Program
• BCLS required
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• Current Coronary Care Level 1 Certificate Preferred or within 6 months
• Recent experience and exposure in Intensive Care nursing preferred
• Advanced physical assessment skills
• Demonstrated ability to think critically and effectively in order to prioritize needs in emergency situations
• Highly effective decision making, problem solving and organizational skills combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong leadership & assessment skills
• History of ongoing professional development and be a self-directed learner; demonstrated by evidence of continuous learning, required
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and commitment to customer service and teamwork
• Experienced in patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and care
• Positive attendance and work record essential
