Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a REGISTERED NURSE for Endoscopy at Toronto Western Hospital. You will perform pre, intra and post-procedure nursing care, ensuring compassionate, competent care within the Nursing Multi-disciplinary Team and adhering to professional standards.

The role requires an approved nursing program, BCLS Level II, ACLS, and Endoscopy experience. It is a temporary part-time position with a contract end date of December 10, 2027, offering diverse benefits and

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved nursing program (BScN preferred).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Level II certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Coronary care 1 certificate preferred.
• Current certificate of competency and a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Experience with Endoscopy procedures is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre, intra and post-procedure care for Endoscopy patients, including ERCP.
• Deliver nursing care in accordance with professional standards and UHN policies.
• Participate in continuing education to meet patient population needs and profession standards.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

Position Summary

As a member of the UHN and the Nursing Multi-disciplinary Team, the REGISTERED NURSE practicesin accordance withrelevant legislation/standards, meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.
Duties

• Applying knowledge of nursing science, theory,skilland critical decision making in the provision of compassionate,collaborativeand competent carein accordance withthe UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN
• Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure
• Demonstrating commitment to professionallife longlearning byparticipatingin continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession
• Performing reflective practice,analyzingand evaluating nursing knowledge andmodifyingpractice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care
• Performing cross-functional and other responsibilities, as assigned and/orrequested. Specifically, the nurse willbe responsible forthe pre, intra and post procedure care of patients undergoing Endoscopy procedures, including ERCP.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved nursing program(BScN preferred)
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Coronary care 1 certificate preferred
• Current certificate of competency and a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Physical Health Assessment Course
• Previousnursing experience in Endoscopyrequired
• Critical CareExperience preferred
• Two years each of recent Medical and Surgical Nursing
• Experience with IV insertion, accessing vascular access lines
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
• Patient teaching skills
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work under pressure
• Must be able to wear a lead apron
• Ability toutilizeinformation technology including experience with the online assessment tool
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
• Ambulatory nursing an asset
