Job summary

Sault Area Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, is seeking Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department on a part-time basis. The role focuses on rapid assessment, triage, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

You will use the Nursing Process to plan and evaluate care, provide patient and family teaching, and participate in safety initiatives. Ontario certification, ACLS and PALS current within 2 years are required, with 1 year ED experience

Qualifications

• Ontario Certificate of Competency is required.
• ACLS competency current within the last two years.
• PALS competency current within the last two years.
• Emergency nursing experience: 1 year in ED or 3 years in nursing.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with health care providers to deliver patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Apply Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Provide health teaching to patients and families.
• Support safety by planning corrective actions and ensuring compliance with laws and hospital procedures.

• Registered Nurse – Emergency Department – Part Time (2)

DUTIES:

• Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in provision of patient care.
• Effectively use the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient.
• Provide health teaching to patients and family.
• Provides assistance in planning corrective actions to ensure safety for patients and staff. Is compliant with legislation, organizational and departmental, regulations, standards and procedures related to occupational health and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS;

• Certificate of competency in Ontario.
• Current ACLS competency – ACLS competency current within the last two years
• Current PALS competency – PALS competency current within the last two years

EXPERIENCE:

• 1 year Emergency nursing experience or 3 years nursing experience

SKILLS:

• Demonstrated competencies related to IV Therapy.
• Demonstrated clinical competency in the management of care of patients in emergency.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education within the past two (2) years with emphasis placed on courses/conferences related to Emergency.

ABILITY:

• Knowledgeable in the utilization and care of all mechanical equipment required for patient care.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
• Ability to adapt to a fast paced environment in a positive manner and work independently as well as part of the multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrated Behavior consistent with Hospital Mission, Vision, Values and iCcare Way.
