Unit Summary:
Metrics confirm that our Emergency Department is one of the top performing hospitals in the province. The Emergency Department is a 42-bed unit that serves the community of Burlington and the surrounding area. Last year, we had approximately 50,000 visits and our volume continues to grow. Our Emergency serves patients of all ages and treats patients of every medical and mental health illness. We have several different areas in our department that provide care specific to the needs of the patients in that area. Our PES unit (Psychiatric Emergency Services) is a unique 4-bed mental health unit in our department. Our dedicated multi-disciplinary team collaborate to provide safe, high quality care to our patient population. This ambitious team delivers care reflecting our values of compassion, accountability, respect and excellence. The unit is supported by 24 hour Charge Nurses, a Professional Practice Educator and a Unit Manager. Joseph Brant Hospital is supportive of career development and professional growth, welcoming new graduates to experienced nurses.
