Your Opportunity

Diagnostic Imaging Team - You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas, including CT/Interventional Radiology/MRI/Nuclear Medicine/Ultrasound and Recovery room for both pediatric and adult patients. High complement of inpatient and emergency patients. Duties involve patient prep, conscious sedation, patient monitoring, post‑op care, teaching, and discharge. Patient transfers and transports are required. As a member of the collaborative interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and practices to full scope as defined by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with the interdisciplinary team. Must have the ability to work independently while maintaining collaboration with team members. Must be able to adapt quickly to changing and fluctuating workloads and work conditions. Accountability, critical thinking, time management and communication skills are necessary. Must have the ability to respond to new needs in the role as they arise with initiative and self‑direction. 7.75‑hour days (Days, Weekends and On Call).

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well‑being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1‑4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.

Additional Required Qualifications

A minimum 2 years of recent Diagnostic Imaging Nursing experience or current experience (within the past two years) in Critical Care, Recovery Room or Emergency Department Nursing is required. A high level of Physical Assessment skills. Must be knowledgeable in identifying common Cardiac Arrhythmia. Must be able to work with various health disciplines and demonstrate respect and partnership. Must be able to transport and transfer acute care patients. Must be able to wear heavy lead while standing for long periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications

Interventional Radiology training, Contrast Media Certification, Central Vascular Access Devices (CVAD) Certification, Post Anesthesia recovery of adult/pediatric patients and experience with pediatric IV starts are preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification are definite assets.
