Job summary

St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto is seeking a Registered Nurse to advocate for wellness and deliver safe, ethical nursing care within a dynamic, inter-professional team.

You will collaborate on patient care plans, contribute to education for patients and families, and support discharge planning while maintaining Ontario RN registration and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Must have current General Class (Practicing) Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• BLS Certification is required.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professions in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• Proven planning, time management, organization and coordination skills.
• Minimum 6 months of critical care experience is required.
• George Brown Critical Care certification or comparable ICU certification is required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in cardiology, medical-surgical or cardiac surgery.

Job description

The RN works within a changing environment and in inter-professional teams to advocate for and promote wellness while ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and ethical nursing care. The RN shares his/her knowledge and expertise with others and contributes to the advancement of nursing practice excellence. Patient Care

• Acquires information to assess patient care and learning needs

• Organizes nursing care and assigns or changes nursing care activities where appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of the plan of care and adjusts the plan as needed

Collaboration & Coordination

• Serves as the primary resource for organizing and coordinating patient care activities

• Coordinates and communicates patient care activities for a safe and seamless transition and appropriate transfer of accountability

Qualifications

• Must have Current General Class (Practicing) Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• BLS Certification is required

• A minimum of 6 months of Critical Care experience is required
• Must have completed the George Brown Critical Care certification or comparable ICU certification
• A minimum of 1 year of experience is required in one of the following areas; cardiology, medical surgery or cardiac surgery
