Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is one of two Tertiary Trauma Centers in the City of Edmonton and is one of Alberta’s largest and longest serving hospitals. Centrally located in Edmonton’s downtown core, the RAH serves a diverse community, including some of our province’s most vulnerable and marginalized populations. PCU 33 is a 31-bed unit providing care to neurosurgery, Ortho spine and trauma surgical patients. PCU 33 also features 6 surgical observation beds that require extra training for registered nurses on the unit. Patients are received from the operating room, emergency department, intensive care units, and directly from home and/or medical clinics. This unit offers a unique, employer-paid learning opportunity for RNs to receive specialized "obs training" in the management of spine/trauma patients, enhancing their nursing skillsets while contributing to delivery of meaningful patient care outcomes. We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) with exceptional clinical and critical thinking skills and the adaptability and enthusiasm to excel in our Acute Surgical Unit. RNs in this area are responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive patient and family care in accordance with the RAH and AHS policies and procedures. We implement Care Hub nursing on all shifts with registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and health care aids working collaboratively to their full scope of practice. This RN position will require you to perform moderate to heavy work on a regular basis in order to ensure safe patient care and safety of unit staff. All staff are required to assist with mobilization of patients with a variety of ambulation needs. The expectation is to direct and monitor the care provided by health care aids and support your LPN peers as well as take on the responsibility of charge nurse as required.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.
