Job summary

A reproductive health facility in Peel Region, Mississauga is seeking a healthcare professional for a 12-month fixed-term contract focusing on coordinating patient care in various fertility programs. Responsibilities include assisting physicians, providing patient education, and emotional support. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong decision-making skills, work independently, and be committed to patient-centered care in an inclusive environment. Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is preferred.

Qualifications

Job description

At The Reproductive Care Centre (RCC), we provide insight, hope and care for patients who have concerns about their fertility and overall reproductive health. Our goal is to meet the needs of our patients with sensitivity and compassion. We pride ourselves in delivering care to our patients to the best of our ability. Our goal, is to make sure that everyone feels respected, informed, empowered and supported. We are always working to improve our services through seeking cutting‑edge technologies, promoting continuing education and self‑assessment, also, by inviting input from patients, staff and from experts in the field and outside our community. Adhering to these principles we seek the respect confidence and satisfaction of all the patients we serve.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate care for women and their partners receiving treatment in the department's various programs (e.g. IVF, Sperm Wash, Ovum Donation, Oncology Banking, etc.).
  • Daily communication with the interprofessional team such as physicians, embryologist, andrologists, secretarial and phlebotomist.
  • Assists Physician in minimal sedation for procedures.
  • Assists Physicians with procedures, exams as needed.
  • Responsible for care of patients in the OR for IVF procedures.
  • Responsible for care of patients in the Recovery Room.
  • IV insertion, phlebotomy as necessary.
  • Provide patient education in one‑on‑one sessions.
  • Assist and/or perform various procedures in the clinic and procedure room setting such as IUIs.
  • Provides patient/couple counseling, IVF procedure education, and scheduling of treatment/coordination of treatment cycles after initial and follow up visits.
  • Communicate lab results with appropriate interpretation and explanation.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols, medication storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Support women and families through the various ethical decisions that may be required as they explore various treatment options.
  • Counsel patients daily regarding successful versus failed outcomes.
  • Provide emotional support and grief counselling to women and families who are not successful in achieving pregnancy.
  • Participate in professional development, quality improvement and safety activities within the program.
  • Maintains privacy & confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Excellent computer skills, comfortable with working with an EMR.
  • Ability to work independently to manage a caseload of patients.
  • Able to work effectively in a team to provide excellent patient care.
  • Demonstration of good attendance and work performance.

  • Knowledgeable about providing a safe and inclusive environment to gender and sexually diverse people (2SLGBTQIA+).

Experience / Position Requirements
  • BScN preferred.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • 3-5 years medical/surgical experience preferred.
  • BCLS.
  • Team player with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Previous in‑vitro fertilization clinical experience preferred but not essential.
  • Commitment to professional practice and personal development.
  • Computer skills are required.
  • Commitment to shared leadership and team based decision making.
  • Demonstrated excellent critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Commitment to patient centred care.
