Wage Range: $39.07 – $56.00 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement requirements)

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week

Shifts: Days / Nights / Weekdays / Weekends

Status: Temporary Full-Time (End Date November 3 2026)

Job Summary

9ES is a 38 bed General Surgery / Surgical Oncology unit built on a strong foundation of interprofessional teamwork dedicated to providing high quality person-centered care. The adult patient population includes elective and emergency admissions of surgical and non-surgical patients. Our focus is surgical oncology related to gastrointestinal cancers hepatobiliary diseases and colorectal disorders. The unit is comprised of both Level 1 (ward) and Level 2 (acute care unit / step-down) beds. This is a high acuity fast-paced unit with the opportunity to practice advanced assessment skills enhance critical thinking and further develop discharge planning skills through our interprofessional model of care.

Duties

As a member of the General Surgery team on 9ES the Registered Nurse will perform duties that are consistent with the job classification and/or clinical specialty. The principal responsibilities include:

  • Assessment - systematically collecting data about the health of the patient for initial screening on-going or selected in-depth assessment on order to determine diagnosis
  • Planning - identifying priorities target dates strategies or interventions in order to contribute to the individualized care plan and achieves optimal outcome for the patient
  • Implementation - safely and effectively performing the strategies and interventions directed by the care plan
  • Evaluation - systematically evaluating the extent to which the best possible outcomes have been achieved.
Qualifications
  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required
  • Level 2 (acute care unit / step-down)
  • Flexible and able to work effectively and efficiently within a interdisciplinary patient care team
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and decision making skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • BScN degree preferred
