Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Milton, Canada, is seeking a Registered Nurse for a surgical day patient care role. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment providing care in PACU and Surgical Day Care. Applicants must have current nursing registration and various certifications. The hourly wage ranges from $39.07 to $56.00, and shifts will rotate throughout the week.

Qualifications

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BLS certification required at time of hire.
  • ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing.
  • Recent Surgical Day Care nursing experience required.
  • Strong patient assessment skills essential.

Responsibilities

  • Apply nursing process to the care of surgical day patients.
  • Provide care to patients in the PACU and Surgical Day Care.
  • Administer IV drugs, manage vital signs, and handle patient assessments.

Job Description

Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a professional and multi-disciplinary team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the PACU and Surgical Day Care.

Qualifications
  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
  • ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing.
  • PALS Certification preferred at time of hire and ongoing
  • Recent Surgical Day Care nursing experience required.
  • Recent PACU nursing experience required.
  • Critical Care Nursing course and / or PACU course required.
  • Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred.
  • Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural / PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required.
  • Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.
  • Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias
  • Strong patient assessment skills essential
  • Must possess excellent decision making & critical thinking skills
  • Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Caring attitude with patients, families and co-workers.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
Additional Information

Hours : Monday to Sunday; Various rotating shifts (0600-1400, 0630-1430, 0700-1500, 0800-1600, 0900-1700, 1000-1800, 1500-2300. Includes on call shifts (subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary : $39.07 tp $56.00 per hour
