A healthcare organization in Medicine Hat seeks a skilled Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. Your Opportunity : The Registered Nurse on 5W works collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide high quality, patient / family centered care to a variety of patients with complex and diverse care needs.
Description : As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Responsibilities include providing nursing services to patients and families, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making; teaching, counseling and advocating for patients and their families; and supporting an integrated, holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
Minimum of 2 years recent (within the last 3 years) adult acute medical and / or surgical nursing experience is required. A strong understanding of COACT principles. Demonstrated ability to work and lead in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with patients and families in stressful situations. Strong clinical and assessment skills (Patient assessment, IV certified, CVC / PICC certified, Foley insertion, and Glucometer certified). Excellent interpersonal communication, time management and organizational skills; ability to work with the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, variable environment with competing priorities. Strong conflict resolution skills. Ability to lift and turn patients safely using appropriate techniques and equipment (IYM).
Recent Charge Nurse Experience and active participation in discharge planning preferred.
