Job summary

Blood Tribe Department of Health, Inc. is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Lethbridge Wellness Shelter & Stabilization Unit, Detox. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, you will provide direct nursing care, apply CRNA Nursing Practice Standards, and coordinate client care.

You will teach clients, refer to community services, and liaise with health agencies. Candidates must be a Graduate of an approved College of Nursing, maintain CRNA registration, have CPR renewal, and demonstrate

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved College of Nursing.
• Good standing and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Two years of nursing experience.
• CPR certification renewed annually.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with EMRs.

Responsibilities

• Assist, coordinate and provide nursing care by applying CRNA Nursing Practice Standards.
• Provide appropriate and safe care to clients and conduct active client teaching.
• Refer clients to community services and liaise with other health agencies.
• Demonstrate initiative and judgment within a multidisciplinary team.

FTE: 1.0 Permanent Full-Time
PROGRAM: Lethbridge Wellness Shelter & Stabilization Unit, Detox
REPORTS TO: Nurse Manager
SHIFT PATTERN: Monday to Sunday, Shift at 11.25 hours per shift
REPORTING TO: As per the United Nurses of Alberta Collective Agreement

SUMMARY OF WORK:

The Registered Nurse, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, assists, coordinates and provides nursing care by applying Nursing Practice Standards set by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA); provides appropriate and safe care of clients; provides active client teaching and referral to appropriate community services and liaisons with other health agencies and other duties as requested.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALITIES:

• Graduate of an approved College of Nursing.
• Good standing and current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Computer literacy skills and familiar with various EMR’s.
• Harm Reduction experience is an asset.
• STBBI knowledge and experience is an asset.
• Minimum of two years of experience in nursing.
• CPR certification renewed annually.
• Understanding of Blackfoot Culture and Language.
• Shall be mature, flexible, pleasant and exercise a high degree of initiative and judgement.
• Must act with integrity and ethics.
• Must have effective organizational skills.
• Excellent Critical Thinking skills.
• Ability to function independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

SALARY RANGE:

• Salary Grid as established by UNA Collective Agreement.
