Your Opportunity :
The Registered Nurse works in the Acute Care and Emergency settings. Staff provide care to emergency patients and to acute medical inpatients. This combined unit fosters a strong collaborative team environment with Nurses, Physicians, Unit Clerks, and Health Care Aides. The rural generalist nurse provides care to a diverse cohort of patients. Unit specific orientation is required prior to providing care. This position will report to the Unit Manager - Innisfail and will support two programs : Acute Care and Emergency. The RN will be committed to providing open communication and feedback with respect for colleagues, care providers, patients and families. The RN will also work as a member of a health care team, collaborating on the delivery of care to meet the needs of the patients / clients. The RN participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and should expect to work to their full scope of practice. This position offers the opportunity for both personal and professional development within a variety of teams. Your orientation will consist of online learning and buddy shifts to the units.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Job Details
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification.
1-3 years\' experience in the Acute Care / Emergency setting. Emergency Department experience is required. 1-3 years in a charge role. Ability to work within a team environment and independently. Ability to communicate effectively with all Health Care disciplines. Lead 2 (Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation Course). Cam A and B (Cardiac Arrest Management). ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support). CTAS (Canadian Triage and Acuity Score) required. Wound Care experience. IV Medication Administration Course. Experience with CVAD (Central Vascular Access Device). Knowledge of and administration of blood products. Ability to adapt to a constant changing environment. Able to be on your feet for long hours. Ability to manage a busy unit, prioritize your day, utilizing your critical thinking skills. Ability to delegate tasks when required.
