With the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital now open, we are excited to be expanding services within urology, orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, gynecology and ophthalmology, with the addition of bariatric and oncoplastics to support Grande Prairie Cancer Centre. Responsibilities:

  1. Provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations.
  2. Ensure patient safety and well-being through nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making.
  3. Educate, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.
  4. Support an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance.
  5. Maintain safe, quality, patient and family-centered care reflecting AHS values.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • If not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, completion of specific refresher courses is required.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Accredited Post-Basic Peri-operative certification.
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, on-call, and respond within 30 minutes when called back.
  • Preference for candidates with recent OR experience or those who have completed or are enrolled in an accredited peri-operative course.
  • Knowledge of disease entities, nursing diagnoses, and interventions related to medical and surgical treatments.
  • Ability to handle physical demands and maintain confidentiality.
