Overview

Your Opportunity: The Public Health Nurse (PHN) is a key position working in partnership with a multidisciplinary team. The PHN partners with community stakeholders to provide integrated, strength based, family centered care in various settings. Nursing services include: provision of universal public health services including antenatal/prenatal care; routine postnatal care, health assessment, counselling, screening, immunization; follow up; and referral, linkage, advocacy, consultation and teaching as they relate to preschool, school aged children, families, adults and seniors. The PHN is required to pack, lift, move and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites. Service delivery may require walking several blocks and climbing several flights of stairs, awkward and repetitive movements, sitting, standing, and/or bending for long periods of time. This position requires travel within urban and rural communities during work hours. This position requires the successful candidate to follow appropriate hand hygiene techniques including the regular use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap. The PHNs’ practice in this position will focus primarily as a PHN in the Healthy Young Families Program. This position is part of Primary Care Alberta. Description: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
