Overview
Are you a passionate Registered Nurse (RN) looking to make a meaningful impact on healthcare? Drake Medox Health Services actively recruits skilled and compassionate nurses in all areas of practice across Canada from acute care and long-term care to community health and specialized clinical settings.
Responsibilities
- Direct Patient Care: Patient Assessment — Conducting physical exams and collecting medical histories to understand a patient's current health status.
- Monitoring & Recording — Tracking and documenting vital signs, symptoms, and patient progress.
- Medication & Treatments — Administering prescribed medications and treatments, and monitoring for side effects.
- Wound & Skin Care — Performing wound care, such as cleaning and bandaging wounds.
- Diagnostic Procedures — Drawing blood and collecting samples for lab work and operating medical equipment.
- Care Planning — Creating, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in collaboration with the medical team.
- Care Coordination — Working with doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless and effective care.
- Discharge Planning — Develop plans for patients to manage their condition after leaving the hospital or facility.
- Education & Advocacy: Patient & Family Education — Explaining treatment plans and providing education on managing illnesses or injuries at home.
- Patient Advocacy — Serving as a patient advocate to ensure their rights and needs are met within the healthcare system.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration — Consulting and collaborating with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers to determine the best course of treatment.
- Supervision — RNs may supervise licensed practical nurses (LPNs), nursing assistants, and nursing students.
Qualifications
- Valid Canadian RN license and eligibility to work in Canada.
- Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN).
- Proof of good standing with your provincial nursing association.
- Strong patient care and medication administration skills.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and phlebotomy.
- Experience with electronic health records (Epic, Cerner).
- Background in acute care, pediatrics, and pain management preferred.
- Familiarity with senior care, dementia care, and home care is a plus.
- You understand your area of practice – includes clinical care, administration, research, and policy as defined by provincial regulatory bodies (e.g., CRNA in Alberta and CNO in Ontario).
- You can apply legislation, standards and guidelines to clinical decision making.
- You have a strong understanding of restricted activities, delegation rules, and accountability under provincial health acts.
Education & Licensure Requirements
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN exam.
- Additional academic training or specialization for advanced roles or jurisdiction specific courses.
