Job summary

Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) to join our Laboratory team. The MLT collects samples, performs diagnostic tests, analyzes results and prepares reports to guide diagnosis and treatment.

The successful candidate will maintain quality of care, comply with CMLTO and IQMH standards, participate in quality improvement and risk management, and contribute to hospital-wide programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or college diploma in medical laboratory technology.
• Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
• Eligible in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology and Histology.
• CAM LPR certification as applicable.
• Experience with lab and hospital software systems; strong phlebotomy skills.
• Ability to interact with staff, physicians and patients; accurate record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Collect samples and perform diagnostic tests on patient specimens.
• Analyse and interpret test results; prepare reports to assist diagnosis.
• Maintain quality patient care and safety; comply with hospital policies.
• Participate in quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
• Contribute to hospital-wide activities and user groups as needed.
