Job summary

Humber River Health is seeking a compassionate Registered Dietitian to support acute patient populations across its Wilson Site and Reactivation Care Centre cross-coverage. You will assess and treat referred patients, coordinate nutrition care in an acute inpatient setting, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

The role requires a Bachelors or Masters in Food and Nutrition, current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario, and 1–2 years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Food and Nutrition.
• Current registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
• Completion of an internship program and Dietitians of Canada member (or eligible).
• 1–2 years clinical experience preferred.
• Experience with TPN is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition principles.

At Humber River Health the Allied Health team plays a pivotal role delivering diagnostic, technical, supportive and therapeutic patient care. Registered Dietitians are valued members of our Allied Services Department.Registered Dietitians assist patients with their nutritional needs performing assessments, and making nutritional recommendations. Registered dietitians are health care professionals who are trained to provide advice and counselling about diet, food and nutrition. They work in collaboration with SLP’s, wound and skin, food services, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to address and enhance the nutritional needs of the patient.

Position Responsibilities:

• This position's primary assignment is to support an acute patient population for referred patients in medical, surgical, and specialty units within the acute care setting and post-acute care settings.


• Providing appropriate assessment and treatment of referred patients/clients within an acute inpatient setting.


• Prioritizing patient caseload to meet the needs of referred patients.


• Recording client assessment, progress and discharge status.


• Recording timely workload measurement data.


• Works as a member of the health care team.


• Flexibility in caseload and program assignment.


• Able to manage patient caseload in a busy acute care setting.


• Clinical supervision of clinical nutrition students/interns.


• Some weekend and statutory holiday coverage may be required as needed.


• Cross-coverage at both the Wilson and Reactivation Care Centres (Church & Finch locations) may be required as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Food and Nutrition.


• Current registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.


• Completion of an internship program and a member (or eligibility to become a member) of the Dietitians of Canada.


• 1-2 years clinical experience is preferred.


• Experience in TPN an asset


• Excellent knowledge of clinical nutrition principles and evidence based nutrition practice


• Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to encourage, support and motivate patients and/or their families from a multi-cultural community.


• Excellent time management and organizational skills.


• Able to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.


• Ability to travel for cross-site coverage may be required. Access to a vehicle is an asset.


• Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
