Job summary

Community Living Toronto is seeking a Registered Behaviour Analyst to lead autonomous behaviour services for individuals with complex needs. You will develop and monitor Behaviour Support Plans, conduct FBAs, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team under biophysical-social guidelines.

You will train staff, review data, and ensure compliance with CPBAO standards and relevant Ontario regulations. A strong emphasis on rights-based planning and ongoing data-driven improvement is required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Applied Behavioural Analysis or equivalent.
• CPBAO-registered RBA or licensed equivalency.
• 3–5 years autonomous BCBA experience in behavioural programming.
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Registered Behaviour Analyst is responsible for providing autonomous behaviour services to a caseload of individuals with an intellectual/developmental disabilities, dual diagnoses, challenging behaviours,mental health concerns, and the complex needs of the aging population. Responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of Behaviour Support Plans, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, including QAM, MCYS, MCCSSand the CYFSA and Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis Act (2021).

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in Applied Behavioural Analysis, or equivalent required. Registered Behaviour Analyst with the College of Professional Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts (CPBAO) required and 3-5 years of autonomous experience as a BCBA (pre-regulation) and /or CPBAO-registered RBA.
• Board Certified Behavioural Analyst (BCBA) in good standing an asset.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in behavioural programming for individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs.
• Ability to work as within a clinical interdisciplinary team that follows a bio-psycho-social model of treatment and intervention utilising principles of behaviour analysis.
• Knowledge of autism, mental health and developmental disability diagnosis with an ability to manage challenging behaviours and summarize, analyze and graph data results.
• Knowledge of the CPBAO Standards of Practice and BCBA ethical guidelines. Working knowledge of related legislation and regulations such as: Employment Standards Act, OHSA, Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities Act,QAM, MCCSS, CYFSA, Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis Act (2021) etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Driver's license an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Development and Administration

• Complies and remains up to date with all regulations and guidelines related to the College of Professional Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts (CPBAO) as they relate to the autonomous practice of behaviour analysis.
• Ensures procedures, practices, and interventions are evidence based and implemented utilizing a bio-psychosocial approach.
• Responsible for assessing and obtaining consent from the individual, Substitute Decision Maker, etc.
• Autonomously conducts functional behaviour assessments (FBAs) using direct (e.g., observation, ABC data, functional analyses) and indirect (e.g., interviews, questionnaires, records reviews) methods. Ability to independently interpret and summarize data.
• Autonomously develops behaviour support plans and skill acquisition programs in collaboration with the individual, staff, family, and other professionals based on the rights and choices of the individual.
• Maintains and ensures the completion of monthly behavioural data, incident report data, and behavioural/mental health PRN (pro re nata) usage; analyzes and presents on the use of intrusive interventions to a Third-Party Review Committee on a semi-annual basis.
• Prepares discharge reports when an individual’s service concludes.

Training, Supervision, Monitoring

• Responsible for ongoing monitoring of Behaviour Support Plans, mental health/behavioural PRN protocols, and behavioural programming on an ongoing basis; includes on-site observation, staff feedback, data input, data analysis, and program review; consistent with Ontario Regulation 299/10 Quality Assurance Measures as well as the Ministry Policy Directives for adults with challenging behaviour and the Child, Youth, and Family Services Act (CYFSA) for children.
• Works with staff, families, and other professionals to develop, train, implement, and evaluate behaviour support plans and life skill programs; provides ongoing training to support the teams involved in implementing the plans, utilizing evidence-based behavioural skills training (BST) that involves modeling, instructions, rehearsal, and feedback.
• Provides staff with effective strategies and skills required to support individuals in enhancing and maintaining quality of life.
• Assists with additional areas of staff training as required (e.g., specialized workshops).
• Conducts review of Incident Reports; reports deemed an SOR (serious occurrence report) are further documented and assessed using the containment analysis via a containment summary chart, a monthly analysis, and a yearly analysis.
• Seeks additional specialized consultations both internal (e.g., nursing, sex education, pharmaceutical) and external (e.g., speech language, occupational therapy) on an as-needed basis.

Staff/Parent/Student Support

• Responds to crisis or requests for support when staff and family are having difficulty consistently implementing treatment recommendations.
• Works collaboratively with and maintains regular contact with staff, families and individuals in service to ensure support and success of behaviour strategies.
• Supports individuals, staff, and families during crisis (e.g., hospital, psychiatric, legal).
• Acts as an advocate and liaison for individuals, staff, families and other professionals.
• Supervises student placements from Community Colleges’ & Universities’ Behaviour Sciences Programs.

Meetings

• Attends staff meetings: discusses program changes and updates; presents and discusses current challenges.
• Attends leadership and behaviour services team meetings, internal and external case conferences, and committees as part of a clinical team.
• Attends Plan of Cares and Person Directed Plans (where necessary) to discuss behavioural programs, success and challenges.
• Attends ad hoc meeting with interdisciplinary teams; review and make recommendations on behaviour supports, including available resources, community partnerships, and further steps.
• Attends medical appointments to present data demonstrating the effectiveness of behavioural/mental health PRNs to the prescribing physician to make data-based decisions.
• Conducts research with external organizations; broadens the exposure of Community Living Toronto as a partner in the community while yielding information which can be utilized to improve services and supports for the individuals served.
• Attends and presents intrusive behaviour support plans and PRN protocols for Third-Party Review.
