Job summary

Canaccord Genuity Corp. in Toronto is seeking a Regional Supervisor to oversee compliance reviews and branch support across the region. The role reports to the Managing Director, Wealth Management & Branch Manager and involves ensuring documentation accuracy and regulatory adherence.

You'll lead a team of supervisors, perform spot checks, review client files and KYC, and partner with Compliance VPs to implement policies across branches. Strong licensing and supervisory experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of the full-service advisory industry and compliance.

Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for a Regional Supervisor to join their team in Toronto. This role will report to the Managing Director, Wealth Management & Branch Manager Branch and will be actively involved in supporting the demands of our provincial branches.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Tier 1 Daily & Monthly Compliance reviews: Daily trade reports Protegent alerts Monthly PRO accounts Fee based accounts Restricted accounts High risk accounts Concentration reviews Pending documentation reviews Responsible for review & approval of: New accounts & KYC Updates to ensure documentation is accurate and suitability requirements are met All Option accounts Marketing materials submitted by IA teams Trade corrections/errors Cheque /wire requests including third party payments Third party deposits Outside Activity ("OA") requests Share certificate deposits Non-Brokered Private Placements for conflicts and suitability Address change requests New referral arrangement requests and ongoing monitoring of the arrangement New Joint IA code requests Act as first point of escalation for Compliance Tier 2 issues before escalating to Branch Manager.
  • Perform periodic spot checks of client accounts and physical files. Registration review and validation (for Canada and USA) to ensure that IAs have the same proficiencies and that they are registered in the same province as their clients.
  • Insider/significant shareholder review and validation: Financial plan reviews. Hold mail reviews. Leverage account reviews. Annual Outside Activities review. Preliminary prospectus log maintenance.
  • Other Supervisory reviews as required: Review credit reports including margin calls and debit balances to ensure cash requirements are met. Review email correspondence that has been flagged for escalation. Review trading conduct of those under close or strict supervision. Ensure cheque handling at the Branch (deposits & pick ups) is in line with CG requirements. Spot check weekly KYC reports ensuring that suitability assessments are completed as required for various trigger events. Work with Branch Management to address service complaints while working with compliance and Legal to handle regulatory complaints. Sub-branch supervision and visits as required. Offer guidance and support to Advisors and their team members on Compliance policies and procedures. Effectively communicate concerns or requirements and ensure that IA teams are following firm and regulatory policies and procedures. Maintain an in-depth understanding of Compliance requirements, and network with peers to ensure CG is always keeping abreast of industry developments and improvements Facilitate and participate in regular conversations with Branch Managers, National Sales, and Compliance VPs and CCO to share information and discuss common Compliance-related issues/concerns. Play a key leadership role in helping to train, develop and enforce Compliance policies and procedures within the region to ensure alignment across the firm. Communicate effectively within the region and other RCMs to ensure the strength and effectiveness of compliance and adoption of policies, processes at the branch level and develop action plans to improve compliance and overall compliance review results. Maintain confidential records for Branch Managers (i.e. handle incoming mail and correspondence, draft up and email responses when necessary).
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Must have completed CIRE and RSE (CSC) and Conduct & Practices Handbook (CPH) Examinations and ongoing continuing education requirements.
  • Must hold Supervisor License, and prior experience as a Supervisor would be an asset Options Supervisor License would be an asset
  • Well-rounded experience in and knowledge of the full-service advisory industry.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work with employees and clients at all levels.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Dataphile and Execlear experience is an asset.
  • Previous experience leading or managing a team of supervisors is considered an asset, as the role may assume people leadership responsibilities in the future.
