REGIONAL OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR – AREA 2

Salary Range: $77,400 - $96,751 per year
1.0 FTE Permanent

The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Regional Operations Supervisor for the Facility Services Department. Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Operations, the supervisor will be responsible for a designated area of schools and facilities. The supervisor will coordinate school operations staff and services, as well as the planning and delivery of general maintenance programs in the safe, clean, and secure operation of board schools and facilities in keeping with facility services operating budgets. The successful candidate will be required to be on-call (24/7), with regular requirements for travel with respect to school inspections, accident/incident investigations, facility emergencies, and alarm response follow‑up.

The role of the Regional Operations Supervisor includes responsibility for overseeing minor maintenance and building operations services, staff, and contractors. This position is for: Area 2 – Orillia S.S. & group of schools as well as Twin Lakes S.S. & group of schools.

Qualifications And Skills Required
  • Secondary School diploma is required with preference given to candidates with a relevant Community College Diploma;
  • Five (5) years related experience in the areas of custodial, general maintenance and health and safety practices, preferably in an education environment and in a leadership role(s);
  • Effective supervisory, leadership, coping and conflict resolution skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Working knowledge of and the ability to ensure compliance with board policies and procedures, collective agreements, WHMIS, WSIB, Building Code, Labour Relations, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights code and the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Fire Code;
  • Demonstrated ability to schedule, assess, and prioritize workloads and shifts, and work within established budgets;
  • Demonstrated experience with custodial methods and equipment, building operations systems, and training of adult learners;
  • Advanced computer literacy and ability to work with a variety of computer software programs, such as O365, SharePoint, OneDrive, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Teams and Apply to Education are required. Working knowledge of the DirectLine Maintenance Work Order System, eBASE, and absence reporting software is preferred;
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment is preferred;
  • The successful candidate must possess a valid driver's licence - class G or greater. The successful candidate will be required to provide a copy of their driver's licence and an acceptable three (3) year Motor Vehicle Report from the Ministry of Transportation;
  • The nature of this position will require the successful candidate to service large geographical areas.

Testing May Be Required During The Selection Process.

This is a full‑time permanent position. The regular work year for this position is twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for this twelve‑month position is $77,400 to $96,751 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is based on a forty (40) hour work week.

Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full‑time permanent employees, even if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
