Job summary

A healthcare organization in British Columbia is seeking a Regional Medical Director/Regional Department Head to lead and support a culture of safety and effectiveness in patient care. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of leadership experience in the healthcare sector, preferably with a Master’s degree in health administration. Responsibilities include providing regional leadership, standardisation, and performance monitoring within the Hospitalist network. Competitive compensation is offered based on contractual agreements.

Regional Medical Director/Regional Department Head

Hospitalists

The Regional Medical Director/Regional Department Head (RMD/RDH) of Hospitalists will build and support a culture of patient and care‑team safety, and clinical effectiveness, where the patient and family are at the centre of clinical system design.

The RMD role provides regional leadership to support the successful delivery of a Hospitalist care and service network within Fraser Health. This senior leadership position is accountable for supporting standardisation across the network, recruitment and monitoring performance against standards.

RDH role is responsible for Regional medical care and practice standards, departmental credentialing, quality and utilisation monitoring/improvement, departmental operations, academic affiliation, and regional physician resource planning.

This position reports to an Executive Medical Director. As the successful candidate you have:

  • Eligibility for membership on the FH Medical Staff.
  • Five (5) years leadership experience within the healthcare sector and experience in hospital based leadership is highly desirable.
  • A Master’s degree in health administration or business administration is preferred.
  • Additional leadership training is preferred.
  • Experience with budgetary and operational planning is desirable.

Compensation is based on the HEABC Medical Leadership – Profiles & Compensation for FFS Physicians. The stipend is paid under contract.
