Schedule: Full‑time

Location: Ottawa – hybrid work environment, 3 days in office per week (objective).

Business Development 19 – Salary range: $109,810 to $146,413 annually, plus a performance‑based incentive.

Team Overview

The Small Business National Accounts (SBNA) team, part of EDC’s Inbound Sales and Service group, empowers Canadian micro and small businesses nationwide. Our Account Managers, Customer Care, and Exporter Engagement teams deliver exceptional client experiences through personalized guidance and tailored export solutions.

SBNA manages relationships with small business exporters and their financial institution partners, facilitating access to EDC’s financial and knowledge solutions.

Operating as a virtual business development team, we collaborate across EDC and with Canadian financial institutions to drive client retention, satisfaction, and new business growth.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Regional Director for the Small Business National Accounts Team (SBNA), you will lead, coach, and mentor a team of Senior Account Managers and Account Managers across various EDC offices. Reporting to the Director of Small Business, Customer Care and Inclusive Trade, you will work collaboratively with a passionate and dedicated team to deliver EDC’s solutions and build organizational capabilities that drive value for Canadian Small Business exporters.

In this Role, You Will:
  • Translate EDC’s strategy into clear, actionable goals for the SBNA team, prioritizing customer needs and operational excellence.
  • Foster empowerment and accountability, delegating effectively and removing obstacles to enable your team’s success.
  • Coordinate and integrate team activities for maximum strategic impact and operational effectiveness.
  • Champion innovation and adaptability, guiding your team through change and embracing digital solutions that enhance customer experience and efficiency.
  • Operationalize strategic initiatives, driving process improvements and skill‑based routing to optimize team capacity and deliver solutions.
  • Represent the small business segment in leadership forums and collaborate with stakeholders to advocate for client needs, using market intelligence to influence programs and corporate initiatives.
  • Recruit, recognize, and develop talent, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes wellbeing and professional growth.
What We Are Looking For
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of business development experience in international business, financial services, or a related area.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales management best practices and customer experience strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching abilities, with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
  • Bilingual in both official languages, English and French.
