This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position
Regional Director Access, Policy and Government Relations

Candidates must be based in Ontario or Alberta, with a strong preference for those located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate, to continuously advance science, and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love—that’s what makes us Roche.

In line with our definition of Market Access as the process whereby all suitable patients who would benefit from a diagnostic test are ensured rapid and maintained access at an appropriate price, we recognize the importance that policies have on advancing this appropriate access. Keeping with our 10-year ambition to double patient access to novel, high-medical-value diagnostic solutions, creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love is what makes us Roche.

As the Regional Director, Access, Policy & GR, you will be responsible within your region for executing all necessary steps to achieve our access objectives for diagnostic solutions currently or about to be commercialized in Canada. In summary, this role will stay abreast of the policy environment, monitoring and analyzing the changing provincial and national healthcare landscapes to provide insights on evolving trends that could affect commercial strategies. You will drive all Access activities to support launch strategies, develop meaningful relationships with political decision-makers, HTA organizations, and Ministries, and assist in gaining access to the right levels within public and private systems to demonstrate medical value, testing utility, innovation, and health economic models.

Additionally, you will work closely with the Provincial Healthcare Leader to develop regional strategies and take on national strategic responsibility on behalf of the Access, Policy, and GR team in 2-4 disease/technology areas. You will collaborate with Global pricing, access/policy, and medical affairs teams to inform global strategies and advocate for Canadian needs. By representing Roche Diagnostics, you will build and maintain relationships and actively contribute to key industry associations, chambers of commerce, and patient coalitions to respond to provincial priorities and adapt strategies to market changes.

The Opportunity
  • Leverage strong understanding of healthcare systems, provincial/federal Ministers and Ministries of Health and others, Health Technology Assessment organizations and national/regional thought leaders to execute the strategies and tactics required to access stakeholders identified within the Medical and Access, Policy & GR Chapters’ initiatives. The result of these actions will assist in ensuring rapid and sustainable access by demonstrating appropriate medical, economic, organisational and societal value for the provincial health systems
  • Create opportunities and find solutions that will demonstrate diagnostic testing value to payers (public and private) in collaboration with Medical Affairs, and subject matter experts from local Sales, Marketing, Global Life Cycle Teams (e.g. using Health Economic tools) and/or Roche Pharma
  • Collaborate with Roche Pharma Government Relations and the commercial organization to utilize and leverage the "One Roche" position across Canada for government and other decision makers’ related strategies and tactics
  • Monitor and analyze the changing healthcare landscape to provide insights and recommendations on evolving policy trends to inform and educate on the challenges ahead that could affect the commercial strategies in place
  • As well as in the specific region, support access, policy & GR strategy development, implementation, stakeholder relations, meetings and presentations as appropriate and needed
Who You Are
  • You hold a University Degree in business or health science and have 5-10 years of experience in the healthcare industry (experience in Diagnostics, Market Access, Government Relations, and/or Health Technology Assessment is a strong asset)
  • You possess a proficient understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, including public and private payer reimbursement mechanisms and approval processes
  • You have excellent written and spoken communication skills (bilingual preferred) and the excellent cross-functional, collaborative team-working skills required to thrive within Roche Diagnostics' matrix organization
  • You are professionally tenacious with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to influence a broad range of stakeholders that could impact the overall success of the operations and commercial activities of the organization
  • Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Ontario is 141,560.00 and 185,797.50 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors as determined by the company.
