Regional Business Manager

Reports to: Director of Operations

Travel Required: Regular travel across Canada (Atlantic Canada, Alberta, and Ontario) with overnights. Approx. 4-5 site visits per week.

As we scale nationally, Mezza is seeking a dynamic and experienced Regional Business Manager to join our Corporate Operations team and support our franchisees in delivering exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and strong financial performance.

The Opportunity

The Regional Business Manager (RBM) is a key field-based leadership role responsible for supporting, coaching, and driving performance across multiple franchised locations within a defined region.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the RBM acts as the primary business consultant for Franchise Owners/Operators, ensuring consistent brand execution and operational standards across all markets.

This role requires strong operational expertise in QSR, multi-unit leadership experience, exceptional communication and relationship-building skills as well as the ability to balance coaching with accountability. The RBM serves as a critical liaison between Franchisees and the Mezza Head Office team ensuring clear communication, alignment on priorities, and seamless execution of brand initiatives.

As Mezza expands across Canada, this position will be instrumental in strengthening franchisee success and preparing the network for sustained national growth.

Key Responsibilities
1. Performance & Operations Management
  • Act as a strategic business partner to franchisees, helping them optimize operations, improve profitability, and enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular in-store visits to assess operational adherence, product quality, speed of service, staffing, cleanliness, and guest experience.
  • Analyze P&Ls, food/labour costs, operational KPIs, and financial trends; develop action plans with franchisees to drive improved performance.
  • Monitor store-level performance against Mezza brand standards and franchise agreement expectations.
  • Support franchisees in planning and executing sales-building initiatives, community engagement, and local marketing.
2. Coaching, Leadership & People Development
  • Provide coaching to franchise owners and their management teams on operations, people management, leadership, and service standards.
  • Identify training gaps and collaborate with the Training Department to ensure comprehensive onboarding, ongoing development, and skills enhancement.
  • Reinforce Mezza culture, values, and brand identity through consistent communication and leadership.
3. Brand Standards, Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Conduct formal Brand Standards Audits across assigned locations; document results, coach through corrective actions, and elevate ongoing issues to senior operations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with operational policies, health and safety regulations, food safety, HR standards, and franchise obligations.
  • Support execution of new menu launches, product rollouts, technology updates, and operational improvements.
4. New Store Development & Strategic Expansion
  • Assist in the opening and onboarding of new franchised locations, including training, operations setup, and opening week support.
  • Support relocations, renovations, and makeovers as assigned.
  • Monitor competitive activity and market conditions; communicate trends to Real Estate, Marketing, and Operations leadership.
5. Corporate Office Liaison & Communication
  • Serve as the primary field contact between franchisees and Mezza’s corporate departments including Operations, Training, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance.
  • Provide clear communication of new policies, procedures, promotions, and brand initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit timely operational reports, action plans, audit documents, and performance summaries.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects that support Mezza’s national growth.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 5+ years of multi-unit leadership (District Manager, Regional Manager, Area Manager, or equivalent) in the QSR or fast-casual restaurant industry.
  • Strong understanding of franchise operations, guest experience, and brand standards within a high-growth environment.
  • Proven track record of coaching operators to improve sales, profitability, and operational consistency.
  • Strong business and financial acumen; ability to interpret financial statements and develop strategies to improve results.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build productive relationships with franchise owners and their teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, travel-heavy role with evening and weekend availability as required.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to travel frequently (approx. 4-5 site visits per week) across Atlantic Canada, Alberta, and Ontario; overnight travel required.
