Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the operation of building systems, including heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air‑conditioning.
  • Operate and monitor an industrial ammonia refrigeration system, ensuring compliance with all standard operating procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and complete daily refrigeration system readings and logbook records.
  • Install, maintain, and repair all mechanical and electrical systems and machinery at the plant.
  • Provide technical support for production by troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and calibration activities, and maintain updated records.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to continuously improve maintenance operations and lower utility costs.
  • Work with outside contractors and inspectors as required.
  • Enforce established safety, health, contamination, and housekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Track building and equipment repairs and complete maintenance reports and logs.
  • Actively promote health and safety in the workplace and work in a safe manner in accordance with all legislated and company standards.
  • Perform other duties as required to support plant operations.
Qualifications
  • A valid Refrigeration B license and a Millwright license are mandatory for this position.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in an industrial mechanical role, with a strong preference for candidates from the food industry.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques (ARC, TIG, MIG) and machine shop practices.
  • Ability to perform repetitive lifting and handle meat products (beef, pork, chicken, seafood, etc.) comfortably.
  • Proven knowledge of health & safety and food safety protocols (e.g., GMP, HACCP).
  • Strong commitment to working in a safe manner and enforcing all company policies and procedures.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills to address equipment breakdowns efficiently.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
