Job summary

AutoCanada's Excellence Auto Collision - Silver Star in Scarborough, ON is hiring a Refinish Technician to restore vehicles to like-new condition. You will report to the Collision Centre Manager and collaborate with the team to refinished and paint damaged vehicles.

The role includes prepping for refinishing, assisting painters with spot repairs, matching paints, applying topcoats, removing damaged sections with metal-cutting guns and grinders, identifying plastics, and welding body parts.

Qualifications

• Pursue Red Seal journeyman certification as part of apprentice path.
• I-CAR certification training pursued during employment.
• I-CAR welding certification pursued during employment.
• Experience collaborating with Estimators to complete quotes is preferred.
• Ability to use machinery/tools required to complete repairs.
• Must meet physical demands (heavy lifting, standing long periods, power/hand tools).
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving history required.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Assist painter with spot repairs.
• Match paint and apply paint and topcoats accurately.
• Paint repaired body parts using appropriate techniques.
• Remove damaged sections with metal-cutting guns, air grinders and wrenches.
• Identify plastics used on vehicles to repair accordingly.
• Fit and weld body damage using wrenches and welding equipment.
• Perform quality repairs on a variety of vehicles.

Refinish Technician

Dealership: Excellence Auto Collision - Silver Star
Location: Scarborough, ON
Classification: Full time, Immediate hire

Overview: You will complete work required to restore vehicles to “like new” condition so we can reunite them with customers. Reporting to the Collision Centre Manager, you will work with your collision centre team to refinish & paint damaged vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Preparing vehicles for refinishing including feathering, masking, sanding, priming as per insurance guidelines & standards
• Assist painter with spot repairs
• Match the correct paint required for the vehicle & apply paint & topcoats with accuracy
• When required, paint repaired motor vehicle body parts, following recommended application techniques & quality guidelines
• Remove damaged sections of vehicles using metal-cutting guns, air grinders, & wrenches
• Identify the family & properties of the plastic used on a vehicle to repair accordingly
• Fit & weld body damage using wrenches & welding equipment
• Perform quality repairs on a variety of vehicles

Qualifications

• Committed as an apprentice to pursue the Red Seal Journeyman’s certification
• Knowledge of manufacturers' repair/refinishing processes & adherence to processes
• Pursuit of/in process with I-CAR certification training & I-CAR welding certification
• Some experience working with Estimators to complete quotes preferred
• Ability to use selected vendor materials efficiently & cost-effectively
• Knowledge of & the ability to operate machinery/tools required to complete repairs
• Ability to meet physical demands such as heavy lifting, standing for long periods of time & using power/hand-held equipment
• A valid driver's license & safe driving history is required
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
