Compensation: $55.84/hour

Job Summary:

Salish Sea Industrial Services (a Ralmax Group Company) has an exciting and immediate opening for a full-time Red Seal Lattice Friction Crane Operator to join our team in Victoria, BC.

Salish Sea Industrial Services is a marine construction company operating in Victoria's Upper Harbour and sites around Vancouver Island. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Lattice Friction Crane Operator is responsible for the safe operation and assembly of cranes, along with other duties as outlined below.

Responsibilities

The Crane Operator is responsible for, although not limited to:

  • Follow the BC Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, specifically, Parts 14 and 15.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for our people, clients, subcontractors, and the public. Operational Performance and Best Practices
  • Safely operate cranes to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.
  • Operate and assemble cranes according to owner and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform pre-operational inspection/ preventative maintenance on equipment according to owner and manufacturer specifications.
  • Report defects or needed repairs immediately to supervisor.
  • Record all details of inspections, maintenance and other work done on the crane while in the field in the machine's log book.
  • Calculate crane capacities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting.
  • Read and understand load charts and operate cranes within the specified chart.
  • Communicate effectively with crew via hand signals and radio communications.
  • Advise workers of potential hazards within the jobsite.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of OHS, WCB regulations and legislation.
  • Knowledge of Pile Driving.
  • Knowledge of Marine Construction.
  • Knowledge of Dredging.
  • Knowledge of Land-Based Foundation Work.
  • Ability to work well with others as well as independently.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Perform moderately heavy physical labour under all types of outdoor weather conditions.
  • Follow oral and written instructions; record and maintain accurate records.
  • Learn and follow all safe work practices.
Education and Experience
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Possess Level A or B, or Provincial Red Seal Certification.
