Job summary

A community-focused care provider in Williams Lake, BC is seeking a Recreation Worker to assess residents' needs and develop individualized recreation therapy plans. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Recreation Therapy and be fluent in English. Responsibilities include coordinating recreation activities and collaborating with the care team to ensure resident engagement. This position offers $28.95 per hour with a work schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, 8 am to 4 pm.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy.
  • Fluency in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Previous Recreation Therapy experience in a healthcare facility preferred.

Opportunity

The Recreation Worker reporting to the Executive Director or Recreation Manager assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates residents regarding recreation therapy.

The Recreation Worker will be assigned duties reflective of his/her level of education, preparation, demonstrated skill level, AgeCare policies and procedures and the Collaborative Care Model.

What Is In It For You
  • Assesses each resident to determine their needs, interests, and abilities in relation to leisure lifestyle involvement within the facility and community.
  • Identifies goals and treatment plans and communicate same to members of the Interdisciplinary Team, Residents, and family.
  • Communicates with all Recreation Assistants regarding Residents’ Recreation Therapy Treatment Plan.
  • Ensures that residents are involved in appropriate recreation activities to meet the goals of the Residents’ Recreation Treatment Plan.
  • Directs and assists Recreation Therapy Assistants with individual/group Resident leisure pursuits.
  • Utilizes methods of documentation including charting and Recreation Therapy Department Assessments.
  • Communicates information within Recreation Therapy Department and Interdisciplinary Team Conferences regarding Residents’ performance, progress, and suitability in each program.
What You Will Need
  • Completion of Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, from an accredited School/University of Recreation Therapy.
  • Eligible for registration with Therapeutic Recreation Association e.g. ATRA.
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Previous Recreation Therapy experience in a health care facility preferred, experience in gerontology an asset.

Hours of Work: Tuesday - Saturday from 8am-4pm

Approximate Start Date: March 23, 2026
