  • Experience working with Seniors is preferred.
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information to Recreation Therapist for Resident Care Plans.

The Opportunity

The Recreation Therapy Aide assists in the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and daily operations of therapeutic recreation programs. As a member of the Resident Care Team, the Recreation Therapy Aide assists in the rehabilitation process of the residents to encourage functioning at their maximum potential of independence.

What Is In It For You
  • Identification of needs and wants of the resident as well as the collection of data.
  • Participate as directed in newly admitted residents’ initial Recreation Therapy Admission Assessment of their present Leisure Lifestyle and to identify any recreational needs and desires.
  • Receives information and direction from Supervisor / Manager regarding existing mental health assessments, Resident Life History reviews as well as relevant information learned through discussions with both resident and family.
  • Ensure the safe and timely transportation of residents, staff, and volunteers; be on time when picking up and dropping off at predetermined locations; responsible to find directions and best routes to destinations prior to departing.
  • Equally share responsibility with other staff to ensure all residents are accounted for and safely secured with personal belongs prior to departing.
  • Assists in identifying residents’ Leisure Lifestyle goals through presenting an individualized and appropriate Recreation Program Schedule.
  • Provides information to Recreation Therapist relating to planned intervention(s) in the Resident Care Plan.
  • Attends mandatory and continuing education in-services provided by AgeCare and ensures the number of education hours meets AgeCare guidelines.
  • Assists in the annual Recreation Calendar planning.
