Recreation Manager
Mission
Join us as a leader driven to enhance our Recreation department with a focus on person‑centered care. In this role you will lead a team to encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities that are both familiar and new, providing overall wellbeing and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve resident and family satisfaction targets.
- Ensure residents participate in multiple events and activities each month.
- Lead, manage, and motivate recreation staff and volunteers to meet department and legislated objectives.
- Maintain departmental budget and monitor expenditures.
- Collaborate to develop, plan, organize, and implement resident programs to improve the resident experience.
- Comply with Extendicare Guiding Principles, regulatory requirements, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
- Promote and support community engagement opportunities through volunteers and community partners.
- Hire, train, and engage a team of recreation staff and volunteers.
- Use the HEART framework: Hear, Empathize, Acknowledge, Respond, Thank.
Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation.
- Minimum one year of experience in a health‑care setting.
- Minimum two years of experience in program planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation in a seniors‑care setting.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in ActivityPro, Point‑Click‑Care, RAI‑MDS, and care planning (asset).
- Passion for a person‑centered approach and experience working with seniors; knowledge of Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months).
