Recreation Manager
Mission

Join us as a leader driven to enhance our Recreation department with a focus on person‑centered care. In this role you will lead a team to encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities that are both familiar and new, providing overall wellbeing and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Achieve resident and family satisfaction targets.
  • Ensure residents participate in multiple events and activities each month.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate recreation staff and volunteers to meet department and legislated objectives.
  • Maintain departmental budget and monitor expenditures.
  • Collaborate to develop, plan, organize, and implement resident programs to improve the resident experience.
  • Comply with Extendicare Guiding Principles, regulatory requirements, and the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Promote and support community engagement opportunities through volunteers and community partners.
  • Hire, train, and engage a team of recreation staff and volunteers.
  • Use the HEART framework: Hear, Empathize, Acknowledge, Respond, Thank.
Qualifications
  • Post‑secondary education in Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a health‑care setting.
  • Minimum two years of experience in program planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation in a seniors‑care setting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in ActivityPro, Point‑Click‑Care, RAI‑MDS, and care planning (asset).
  • Passion for a person‑centered approach and experience working with seniors; knowledge of Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months).
