The Opportunity:

The Activity Aide plans, develops and runs a variety of meaningful recreation and leisure pursuits which promotes wellbeing, purpose, creativity, a sense of community, lifelong learning, and fun.

What Is In It For You:

  • Assists in development, planning and implementing daily recreation and leisure activities, both in the home and in the community, using a collection of holistic resident information and choices, and in a manner that reflects AgeCare’s philosophy and approach to resident programming.
  • Develops and facilitates one to one support and resident self-directed activity.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining engaging spaces/environments in the home that support meaningful resident activity and participation.
  • Assists with supporting the Resident and Family Councils as required.

What You Will Need

  • Prior experience working with seniors, preferably in a long-term care setting.
  • Graduate of a post-secondary diploma or degree program in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation or other related field from a community college or university.
  • Enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, or other related field with the intent to successfully complete the program within three years of being hired.
