Mandate of the division

La division Publications est responsable de lensemble du programme éditorial du CCA incluant les publications imprimées numériques et en ligne ainsi que de la programmation de la librairie. En conformité avec la vision institutionnelle et aux côtés d’autres activités curatoriales elle conçoit et diffuse des contenus qui stimulent la réflexion sur l’environnement bâti sous des angles critiques et diversifiés tout en assurant la diffusion des activités du centre y compris les expositions, la collection et les programmes publics et de recherche. La division nourrit ainsi le débat public stimule de nouvelles lignes de recherche et contribue au positionnement international du CCA et à l’élargissement de son public.

The Publications division is responsible for the comprehensive editorial program of the CCA, including print electronic and online formats as well as for the programming of the CCA line. With the institutional vision and alongside its other curatorial activities the division conceives, develops and disseminates content that stimulates reflection on the built environment from diverse critical perspectives while ensuring visibility of exhibitions, collection, research initiatives and public programs. CCA Publications thus stimulates public debate, promotes new lines of research and contributes to the international positioning of the CCA and the growth of its audience.

Job summary

La principale responsabilité de ce poste est de contribuer aux activités du CCA en développant le rôle de son site web en tant que plateforme éditoriale. En consultation avec le Directeur associé Publications, l’éditeur conçoit et implémente la stratégie éditoriale du site, collabore avec d’autres membres de la division Publications pour créer, commander et réviser du contenu en ligne qui soutient et complète le travail curatorial de l’institution.

The main responsibility of this job is to develop the CCA website as a space where content produced by the different areas of activity of the institution is shared, relevant lines of investigation are promoted, collection and other resources are made accessible, and research into questions related to the built environment is encouraged. In consultation with the Associate Director Publications, the Editor conceives and implements the website’s editorial strategy and collaborates with other members of the Publications division to commission and edit content that supports and supplements the CCA’s curatorial work.

Key responsibilities

• Conceive, plan and develop the CCA’s online editorial program with the aim of expanding the institution’s editorial strategy and ensuring contemporary relevance.
• Commission and/or create content for the website, managing the full publication process.
• Research, review, select and edit publication materials (text and visuals).
• Propose and develop media partnerships and a network of collaborators when relevant.
• Collaborate with the Communications team and other members of the Publications team in the production of the CCA newsletter and, when needed, other online communication tools.
• Monitor consistency of the institution’s tone of voice and visual character online and suggest adjustments or new approaches when relevant.
• Contribute to the development and update of the CCA style guide.
• Participate in the promotion and external presentation of the CCA’s online publishing program, enhancing its visibility and impact.

Qualifications

• Diplôme universitaire de 2e cycle (Maîtrise) ou expérience équivalente en architecture, en histoire de l'architecture ou dans un domaine connexe.
• 5 ans d’expérience dans le domaine de l’édition en architecture ou dans des domaines connexes, tout particulièrement dans des publications périodiques.
• Une connaissance approfondie de l’architecture contemporaine, de ses canaux de diffusion et du secteur d’activités du CCA.
• Capacité à travailler en français et en anglais avec des compétences rédactionnelles avancées dans au moins l’une de ces deux langues.

• Masters degree or equivalent experience in architecture, the history of architecture or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of editorial experience in architecture or related fields, particularly in periodical publications.
• Broad insight into contemporary architecture and its discussion and dissemination channels.
• Ability to work in French and English with advanced writing skills in at least one of the two languages.
