Job summary

Cando is seeking a Mechanic to repair and service construction and railway equipment across field locations including Oakville, Sarnia and Hamilton. You will work independently or with a small team, inspecting locomotives, trackmobiles, loaders, and forklifts, while performing preventative maintenance and repairs.

The role requires setting daily schedules, maintaining records, and coordinating with operations teams on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years experience performing heavy equipment/locomotive repairs.
• Experience in industrial/rail environments.
• Must have mechanic certification or equivalent expertise.
• Valid driver’s license and safety certifications required.
• Ability to work independently or in small teams with strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose issues on rail/construction equipment such as locomotives, trackmobiles, loaders, and forklifts.
• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and overhauls.
• Track inspections and repairs; keep detailed maintenance records.
• Establish daily/weekly schedules for equipment maintenance and repair.
• Maintain work areas, vehicles, and tools; ensure safety protocols.
• Provide quality customer service and interface with operations teams on site.
• Mentor others to understand daily maintenance requirements; on-call duties as needed.
