Job summary

ZTR is seeking an experienced Intermediate Controls Developer to provide engineering support for our rail products. You will troubleshoot issues, address design challenges, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, value-driven solutions.

The role requires 5+ years as an Electrical Engineer, 2+ years in field service, proficiency with PLCs, strong writing, and hands-on experience across development lifecycle and control algorithms.

Qualifications

  • Electrical engineer with 5+ years experience in supporting products.
  • Experience in field service (2+ years).
  • Proficiency with PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell, etc.).
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Familiarity with product life cycle and design processes.
  • Knowledge of control algorithms and industrial communications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support to customers through troubleshooting and addressing design challenges.
  • Lead design and implementation of product life cycle and roadmap activities.
  • Select and validate sensors, actuators, and components for system integration.
  • Identify improvements including new algorithms and cost reductions.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize processes using JIRA, Confluence, Word, etc.
  • Support on-site control system and locomotive commissioning at rail yards.
