Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT examinations in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintain patient safety and monitor equipment performance.

The salary range for this position is CAD $43.24/Hr. - CAD $54.01/Hr.

Job Summary

Come work as a Radiological Technologist with Vancouver Coastal Health at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC!

Within the context of a patient/client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the position practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice as outlined by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Working in a computerized environment, performs special procedure examinations in computed tomography (CT), either independently or in collaboration with the Radiologist and/or other physician(s). Applies best practice radiation safety principles to protect patients, staff and the general public and completes required documentation and administrative tasks. Monitors the patient during the procedures including equipment performance and maintains cleanliness of examination room. Maintains and advances own clinical competence by participating on committees/teams and approved research projects, as assigned.This work is framed within VCH’s commitments to our pillars of Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Successful completion of a recognized Medical Radiography or Nuclear Medicine program.
  • Successful completion of the CAMRT certification exam in Radiological Technology and/or certified with The Order of Technologists in Medical Imaging, Radio-Oncology and Medical Electrophysiology of Quebec (OTIMROEPMQ) in Radiodiagnosis or Nuclear Medicine.
  • Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography (e.g. CAMRT CT Imaging Certificate) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Acceptable alternatives may include successful completion of CAMRT CT Imaging Courses 1, 2, and 3, or International CT Education.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification – Level C.
  • Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Broad knowledge of applicable CAMRT standards of practice and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Broad knowledge of CT theory and practices within a patient/family centred model of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with CT and medical imaging equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform CT examinations in compliance with departmental standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to the designated modality.
  • Demonstrated ability to use clinical practice documents organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality.
  • Basic knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS, Radiology Information Systems and electronic health records (i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and effectively deal with patients and their families, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff and staff of external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability in CPR techniques.
  • Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths- based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
