Q-Block Computing in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Financial Analyst – R&D Operations to manage cost tracking across multiple government-funded projects and prepare compliance-grade reporting. You will work with grants, contracts, and internal investments to keep funding streams aligned with program needs.

You will reconcile costs, forecast project budgets, and support bid/proposal development while ensuring data integrity and adherence to federal and provincial requirements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years accounting or financial analysis experience in R&D-intensive environments.
• Experience managing government contracts, grants, or defense sector accounting.
• Solid understanding of R&D accounting principles, cost allocation, and project-based accounting.
• Working knowledge of Canadian government contracting requirements, compliance standards, and grant reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling, data analysis, and pivot tables.
• Proficiency with accounting software and financial management systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or ERP).
• Working knowledge of Canadian tax and payroll requirements.

Responsibilities

• Track costs across multiple R&D projects funded through government contracts, grants, and internal investment.
• Prepare financial reports and reconciliations for government contracts, ensuring compliance with federal requirements.
• Monitor grant budgets and prepare quarterly and annual reporting for funding agencies.
• Forecast project costs across photonics R&D, manufacturing development, and system integration.
• Support bid and proposal development with accurate cost estimates and financial projections.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense reimbursement with controls.
