Job description

CGC Inc. is currently recruiting a Quarry Manager for our quarry operation in Little Narrows, Nova Scotia! This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Plant Manager.

The Quarry Manager plays a key role in the success of the operation, embracing our core values and creating a safe and productive environment where team members thrive.

As Quarry Manager, you will:
  • Oversee extraction of gypsum rock in a continuous operation, including stripping and mining plan, drilling and blasting operations, data management, problem solving etc., ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Display a high level of planning and strategizing to meet plant goals
  • Be accountable for the financial performance of the quarry including budgeting and cost control
  • Using continuous improvement / lean principles, develop and implement plans to improve efficiency and productivity, conducting regular risk assessments and health and safety inspections
  • Build strong working relationships with local communities, government regulators, internal and external stakeholders
  • Hold team members accountable to good safety, quality of work life, attendance and productivity behaviors
  • Inspire, motivate and coach team members to support progression through the established operator rate & training program
  • Actively support company values and initiatives around diversity & inclusion, continuous improvement, training & development, etc.
  • Understand that safety is not just a priority, it is what we do.
What you bring:
  • A bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related field is required; P. Eng. Certification is preferred
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in a mine / quarry or comparable industrial setting is required
  • Effective communication & presentation skills both 1:1 and in a group setting as required for delivering feedback, performance evaluations, training sessions, etc.
  • Must qualify to be certified and listed as a Responsible Person for the quarry’s federal explosives license.
  • Highly proficient in the use of digital tools and platforms
  • Ability to evaluate performance and leverage tools to retain, engage and develop team members
  • A track record of great work performance, attendance, and safety behaviors.

The successful candidate will be subject to pre‑employment fitness‑for‑duty screening.

Additional Information:

Hours - Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm, with extended hours as necessary

Pay Range - $115k-$125k CAD per year, salaried position
