Job summary

Q-Block Computing is seeking a Mechanical CAD Engineering Intern to design and model precision mechanical and optomechanical components for quantum hardware. You will create CAD models and detailed drawings, ensure manufacturability, and document decisions as part of a hands-on, mentored environment.

The role emphasizes working with exotic materials, high-precision tolerances, and collaboration with engineers across projects.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program and able to obtain security clearance if required.
• Solid CAD fundamentals and documentation discipline demonstrated through coursework or projects.
• Familiarity with tolerancing, fitting, and materials selection for mechanical design.

Responsibilities

• Design and model mechanical and optomechanical components using CAD software.
• Develop drawings and 3D assemblies for hardware programs.
• Support prototyping for demanding environments including UHV and thermal extremes.
• Collaborate with engineers to translate requirements into manufacturable solutions.
• Document design decisions, parts, and validation results.
• Assist with build‑up, test fits, and validation activities.
