Job summary

Eaton’s Edmonton facility is seeking a Quality Specialist to ensure quality assurance and quality control processes comply with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. You will work under the Quality Manager to drive continuous improvement and coordinate audits and corrective actions.

Responsibilities include maintaining QMS documentation, leading audits, and analyzing data to reduce defects and improve first-pass yield.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a relevant technical field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management System or Quality Assurance/customer service experience.
• Experience using Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Candidate must live within 80km of Edmonton.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.

• Provide Customer Quality Management support, perform warranty claim data analysis, and support root cause analysis and error proofing for quality issues.
• Track and report quality performance indicators including DPPM and other quality metrics.
• Develop and participate in cost savings projects focused on reducing Cost of Non-Conformance.

What you’ll do:

Eaton is currently seeking a Quality Specialist. This position is based at our Edmonton, AB facility.

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring that Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes and procedures are defined, implemented, measured, maintained, and followed in accordance with the Eaton Quality System and ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements. The Quality Specialist supports the highest standards of product quality and reliability by using quality improvement methodologies to ensure production processes, product quality, and the supply chain meet customer requirements, product specifications, and internal and external standards. Aligned with Eaton’s High 5 metrics—Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity—this role partners cross-functionally to develop and improve quality control processes, monitor performance, implement corrective actions, protect internal and external customers, and drive continuous improvement. In this function you will:

• Support implementation and maintenance of Eaton’s Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2015 certification requirements.
• Identify gaps in quality control processes and develop action plans to close those gaps.
• Update standard work, procedures, department forms, and Quality SharePoint logs to support process optimization and document control.
• Support preparation and execution of internal quality audits, customer audits, and third-party audits.
• Ensure non-conformities, NCRs, and NCMRs are logged, processed, contained, and followed up in a timely manner.
• Provide Customer Quality Management support, perform warranty claim data analysis, and support root cause analysis and error proofing for quality issues.
• Track and support closure of CQMs and EWARFs, maintain CQM logs, and assist with developing solutions for customer concerns.
• Participate in Kaizen, RIE, IDB, Tier, Kick-off, Safety, and Gemba Walk activities as required.
• Review quality metrics and implement corrective actions using 8D, 5 Why, A3, and lean tools to reduce customer quality issues, rework, scrap, and improve first pass yield.
• Track and report quality performance indicators, including Customer DPPM, Supplier DPPM, validation and test audit data, internal quality alerts, non-conforming material quality, and external component quality alerts.
• Support OpA local assessments, Quality Functional Reviews, and Q-LOR activities at the required frequency.
• Develop and participate in cost savings projects, with a focus on reducing the Cost of Non-Conformance.
• Interpret engineering drawings and review technical specifications, customer quality requirements, and company quality requirements to ensure compliance with customer expectations.
• Support PPAP approvals, coordinate part samples for dimensional review, and support Material Review Board activities.
• Manage interplant DMR responsiveness, containment, root cause determination, corrective action, and closure of quality issues.
• Work with the testing team to support calibration programs and Measurement System Analysis.
• Establish and enforce acceptance quality criteria for products to comply with industry standards and regulations.
• Conduct PFMEA activities and create and implement quality control plans to ensure consistent product quality.
• Monitor quality control processes throughout production and support Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance quality control automation and efficiency.
• Perform other duties, as required.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education (degree/diploma) in a relevant technical field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the implementation and operation of an ISO 9001 Quality Management System or Quality Assurance Customer Service experience.
• Experience using Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• This position does not offer relocation. Candidate must live within 80km of Edmonton.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified ISO 9001 Auditor.
• Six Sigma Green Belt.
• ASQ Certification.
• Experience within the electrical manufacturing industry.
