A leading global food company in Ontario is seeking a Raw Material Receiver associate to ensure the quality of inbound raw materials. The ideal candidate will have a certification in Science, strong attention to detail, and experience in quality assurance laboratories. This position involves conducting physical and chemical tests and requires the ability to adapt to various environmental conditions. The Raw Material Receiver associate supports site Q&FS in ensuring the quality of inbound raw materials by performing reception activities such as inspection, quality control, analytic testing, and material reception operations.
This position requires participation in a shift rotation, with scheduled hours ranging from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Education & Professional Qualifications:
Certification, Diploma, Bachelor in science or Laboratory experience
Knowledge / Experience:
Previous experience as RM receiver at Royal Canin preferred
Previous experience in food / feed plant. Optimally experienced in an RM receiving laboratory
Experience in quality assurance laboratory
High data entry accuracy and strong attention to detail required (Critical)
Strong computer literacy/ Ability to adapt and learn new systems
Good communication skills/ Previous demonstrated customer service experience or equivalent experience
Technically inclined
Self-motivated, Team player
Operate with a sense of urgency in a fast-moving consumer goods environment
Color discrimination, Odor sensitive and texture perception, Depth perception, Safety & Hygiene & Quality conscious
Physical/ Environmental Requirements:
Unrestricted range of motion
Comfortable working at heights
Standing on a concrete floor, extensive walking
Frequent climbing of stairs
Lifting (25kg) maximum
Wearing proper personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting
Must be able to adapt to temperature and tolerate environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust, dirt and chemicals
Conducting physical and chemical tests, including but not limited to pipettes, pH, water activity, NIR, lateral flow device, and ELISA methods.
Interpret analytical method procedures and safety instructions using standard chemistry terms and measures.
Maintain all records of analytical testing and quality control lab documentation.
Inform Site Laboratory Coordinator of quality deviations for controls and product.
Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including calibration of equipment.
Ability to conduct limited Instrument troubleshooting and problem diagnosis.
Sampling raw materials from rail cars, bulk trucks, big bags, and totes.
Prepare samples and documentation for external laboratories.
Interpret data from routine analysis in order to validate that materials meet specifications.
Work to ensure lab compliance to quality management systems through training, documentations, quality records, and audits.
Participate in proficiency testing programs.
Able to perform routine calculations pertaining to analytical chemistry (e.g. dilution, concentration, test results).
Collect, prepare and process finished product samples from the packaging lines.
Maintain Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) for the laboratory.
Conduct inventory counts on lab consumables.
