Job summary

Scotiabank is seeking a Quality Engineer to support Global Payment Solutions – Cash Management Technology. You will drive engineering excellence, ensure STLC/compliance, and mentor junior QEs while delivering high‑quality testing for rapid iterations.

You will contribute to both manual and automated testing, update automation packages, and write comprehensive test cases and feature files. Strong collaboration with engineering and delivery teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related area.
  • Advanced level of expertise in manual and automated software testing or QA roles.
  • Strong understanding of test automation best practices such as test data management, test environment configuration and assertion strategies.
  • Good understanding of automation systems and databases.
  • Solid experience with one or more automation testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Robot Framework and Cucumber.
  • Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (Java, Python).
  • Understanding of testing protocols and different testing methods like white box and black box testing.
  • Experience doing deep analysis work in collaborative Agile software development teams.
  • Understanding of Agile frameworks – Kanban and Scrum.
  • Working knowledge of Confluence, Jira and Mural.
  • Strong English communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivation, results-oriented, and ability to interact with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to both manual and automation testing.
  • Maintain and update the existing automation package for each release.
  • Write detailed test cases, test scenarios and feature files covering functional, regression, integration and end-to-end cases.
  • Define overall testing approach with the tech team and perform acceptance testing to validate business requirements.
  • Develop automation test scripts for new features/functions.
  • Track and troubleshoot automation software bugs and investigate the cause.
  • Collaborate with the delivery team to plan and prioritize testing activities including new tests and automating existing ones.
  • Execute automated test scripts and analyze results; perform regression testing before releases.
  • Assist in creating and executing test cases, identify and resolve bugs.
  • Collaborate with production support to maintain and enhance production regression packages.

The Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in the success of Global Payment Solutions – Cash Management Technology by driving engineering excellence, technical delivery, and guiding junior QEs through complex initiatives. This role ensures that architecture, designs, and implementations are tested as per STLC standards, regulatory requirements, and engineering best practices.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:


  • Contribute to both manual and automation testing

  • Require maintaining and updating the existing automation package for reach release

  • Write details test cases, test scenarios and feature files covering functional, regression, integration and end to end cases

  • Work closely with tech team to define overall testing approach and perform acceptance testing to validate business requirements in rapid iterations

  • Develop automation test script for net new features/functions.

  • Tracking and troubleshooting automation software bugs and investigating the cause

  • Working closely with deliverable team on planning and prioritizing testing activities including new test cases and automating existing testing case

  • Execute automated test scripts and analyze test results, conduct regression testing before every release

  • Assist in creating test cases, execute test cases, identify and resolve bugs

  • Work closely with the production support team in maintaining and enhancing the production regression packages.
