Qualifications

  • Solid problem-solving skills using advanced statistical techniques and methodologies such as DMAIC.
  • Six Sigma Black or Green Belt training with working experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise quality-related activities between LPA branch and customers.
  • Lead and resolve escalated quality issues.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional teams to identify root causes.

Job Opportunity

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Quality Engineering candidate for our Quality department. Did you know we are the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry? Our automotive products fall into the Seating and Lumbar support group. The manufacturing processes include overmold, welding, coating, wire forming, CNC, helical & sinuous springs, and press. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise quality-related activities between LPA branch and its customers with proactive interactions that may include customer visits.
  • Lead and resolve escalated quality issues using problem-solving methodologies such as Shainin Red-X, Kepner Tregoe, DMAIC, and 8D.
  • Organize and lead cross‑functional teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and verify and prevent future issues.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Materials, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering departments in the problem containment process, including internal and external sorting.
  • Investigate and research substandard test results and product defects.
  • Concisely prepare and maintain records and reports, and update documentation.
  • Ensure product, process, and system quality by addressing issues, identifying improvement opportunities, and guiding employees to follow reference documents during serial production and new part development.
  • Prepare and submit PPAP documents for new parts development, ECR, and annual validations.
  • Prepare 8D reports for customer complaints, visit customer production facilities to analyze new part production lines, and implement lessons learned.
  • Support the APQP team in establishing PFMEA, Control Plans, and other engineering documents, and manage risk throughout the project to ensure effective launches.
  • Manage internal and external calibration activities.
  • Ensure supplier quality by verifying parts and supplier PPAPs, ensuring correct materials are received, and requesting 8D reports when necessary.
  • Measure parts, design, and provide expertise to establish new inspection fixtures for part inspection.
  • Schedule and perform Layered Process Audits and guide the LPA auditor team to ensure effective audits.
  • Schedule and perform internal IATF and process audits.
Qualifications
  • University degree in an Engineering field with at least 4 years of related experience within an IATF 16949 automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Solid problem‑solving skills using advanced statistical techniques and problem‑solving methodologies such as DMAIC, 8D, etc.
  • Six Sigma Black or Green Belt training with working experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of advanced SPC/DOE/MSA.
  • Knowledge and experience of APQP.
  • Knowledge and experience in preparing and reviewing PPAPs.
  • Ability to work independently and in core teams with respect and professionalism to others and meet deliverables.
  • Positive thinking and willingness to coach and be coached.
  • Willing to travel to customers.
