JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for validating materials and manufactured components to ensure compliance with work instructions and specifications.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Inspect and monitor quality requirements in process and in accordance with company policies and customer specifications for first-off, in-process, receiving, and final inspections.
  • Perform accurate mechanical, physical, and visual inspections of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies as per control plans and specifications.
  • Verify dimensions using hand precision measuring instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, chamfer gauges, radius gauges, thread gauges, and CMM as necessary.
  • Create comprehensive dimensional reports from CMM data and conventional measuring equipment.
  • Document and report inspection results, complete purchase orders, and archive documentation.
  • Perform product identification and traceability activities as required.
  • Sign off MCS for completed operations and coordinate with customers and BWXT Witness for sign-off when needed.
  • Interpret customer drawings (including geometric tolerances) and technical information packages.
  • Assess part compliance, initiate NCRs, and follow through the NCR process for disposition and closure.
  • Safely move components, including using lifting devices such as overhead and jib cranes.
  • Assist with quality surveillance of sub-suppliers if required.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
  • Technical Diploma in Quality or relevant field.
  • 0-2 years experience in quality control or receiving environment.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex manufacturing drawings with GDT specifications.
  • Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0, and N299 quality programs is an asset.
  • Expertise with measuring tools like verniers, calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Familiarity with calibration controls for measuring and test equipment.
  • Understanding of NDE techniques such as liquid penetration, magnetic particle inspection, ultrasonic testing, and radiographic testing is an asset.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; effective team worker.
  • Ability to work independently and solve routine technical problems systematically.
