Job summary

Sunrise Farms is seeking a QA Supervisor to oversee QA Technicians and support HACCP, BRC, and food safety programs across departments. You will help enforce regulatory compliance with CFIA, customer requirements, and GMP practices.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in science and 2–3 years of related experience, with the ability to work within a fast-paced poultry production environment in Canada.

• Knowledge of SFCR and GFSI frameworks.
• 2-3 years’ experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of QA Technicians and indirect supervision of all departments.
• Provide food safety and quality direction to Production, R&D, Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving, Maintenance, Planning and Sanitation.
• Advise department managers on non-compliances and deviations.
• Assist HACCP coordinator and QA Manager with site audits and maintaining HACCP and BRC systems.
• Perform internal audits and on-site inspections for GMPs, Sanitation and Animal Welfare.
• Investigate HACCP and BRC non-conformities and implement corrective actions.

Role:

Provides direct supervision and daily support to the various Quality Assurance Technicians. Assists the QA Manager and/or HACCP coordinator with the implementation and enforcement of food safety and quality programs to all departments. Ensures adherence to required food safety laws, regulations, and company/customer policies and procedures. Has the authority to suspend operations when serious food safety and quality risks are identified.

Assists in the implementation, program review, maintenance and validation of the Food Safety and Quality System: HACCP, BRC, Animal Welfare (GMPs, Prerequisite Programs, Policies, SOPs, etc.)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct supervision of QA Technicians and indirect supervision all departments.
• Provides food safety and quality direction to Production, R&D, Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving, Maintenance, Planning and Sanitation.
• Advises department managers and supervisors of non-compliances/deviations.
• Assists the HACCP coordinator and QA Manager with site audits and takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity of HACCP and BRC Systems.
• Perform internal audits and on-site inspections GMPs, Sanitation, Animal welfare.
• Ensures that regulatory compliance with CFIA, BRC and Customer requirements are met and maintained.
• Monitors and verifies food safety programs and practices and overall SOP compliance within the facility.
• Assists with GMP and Technical training of personnel on HACCP/BRC functions.
• Investigates HACCP, and BRC non-compliance and deviations through root cause and risk analysis, and the application of corrective and preventative actions.
• Assists the QA Manager with complaint investigations, resolving deviations, root cause analysis and the application of corrective and preventative actions.
• Ensures supplier compliance and for any deviation non-conformity reports are issued, communicated to the supplier, tracked, trended, and managed.
• Identifies trends related to food safety (foreign material, Holds, deviations, etc.) and communicates findings to management.
• Ensures appropriate product holds, and timely dispositions.
• Provides technical documentation for testing of products and raw materials.
• Responsible for schedule review and allergen management.
• Responsible for maintaining the verification schedule and ensuring verification compliance including record reviews, on-site observations, interviews, etc.
• Assists with the creation and revision of product specifications to ensure food safety and quality.
• Develops and maintains incoming specifications and online profiling spreadsheets to track and trend quality parameters.
• Other duties assigned by QA Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong understanding of QA, Food Safety principles.
• Knowledge of SFCR, GFSI.
• Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field.
• 2-3 years’ experience in a related field.
