Job Summary

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for leading regulatory compliance and food safety initiatives within a food manufacturing environment. This individual will champion quality standards, ensure alignment with Canadian and global regulatory requirements, and support the organization’s quality systems from production through final product release.

This role includes strong cross-functional collaboration with operations, warehouse, shipping, and international R&D teams, as well as direct interaction with regulatory authorities both in Canada and abroad.

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Affairs
  • Monitor and interpret changes in Canadian and global regulatory legislation and guidelines.
  • Update SOPs to reflect regulatory changes and internal standards.
  • Maintain compliance with Health Canada, CFIA, and relevant international regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in industry working groups and liaise with regulatory authorities.
  • Provide regulatory advice to internal stakeholders and management.
  • Strengthen relationships with external regulatory partners through effective communication.
Product Registration & Regulatory Compliance
  • Lead product registration process with international regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate required regulatory documentation with internal departments and overseas partners.
  • Support product compliance from design through production and distribution.
  • Collaborate with R&D and Marketing on new product launches for the Canadian market.
  • Ensure finished product labelling meets Canadian regulations.
Quality Assurance & Food Safety
  • Lead development and maintenance of QA procedures and food safety systems.
  • Manage and support HACCP and FSSC 22000 programs for certification and recertification.
  • Conduct internal audits and quality management system reviews.
  • Maintain Quality Management System (QMS) and traceability programs.
  • Organize and execute mock recalls.
  • Oversee SOP/SSOP development and annual reviews.
  • Investigate out-of-specification results and lead corrective actions.
  • Support utility surveillance programs for facility compliance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and regulatory records.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive quality or food safety experience in a food, beverage, or dairy manufacturing environment.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, FSSC 22000, and Canadian food regulations.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies (Health Canada, CFIA).
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and with international teams.
  • Strong documentation, auditing, and investigation skills.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily lab and office-based with regular production floor inspections.
  • Must be comfortable standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Flexibility required for meetings outside regular hours due to international time zones.
