Position Overview

This role will be based out of our Kitchener manufacturing facility and will be responsible for quality activities on the Midnight shift (10 pm – 6 am Sun‑Thurs), in addition to supporting the overall development and maintenance of the site’s Quality Systems. The successful applicant for this opportunity knows SQF and / or other GFSI, has knowledge of HACCP , is a strong communicator, highly organized, and capable of working independently or in a team environment. This role will also include any ad‑hoc activities required of the Quality Department and may require work on off‑shifts as well.

Responsibilities
  • Own site GMP program
  • Perform and coach Operators on quality testing
  • Maintain Quality and Sanitation Programs (i.e. recipe control, document control, allergen validations, EMP program, swabbing, etc), complying with all Regulatory, Corporate and Customer requirements
  • Lead cross‑functional Food Safety Team, holding team members responsible for follow‑up and corrective actions
  • Administer Hold and Release programs
  • Support any on‑floor Quality / Food Safety incident investigations
  • Host daily Food Review, and participate in Daily Production Meeting where required
  • Investigate and respond to all critical consumer complaints and provide monthly statistical data
Qualifications
  • College or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science Technology / Engineering or related field
  • 3 – 5 years relevant working experience in a food manufacturing environment
  • Broad range of experience with Operational Systems and GMP Programs
  • Strong knowledge of SQF or similar GFSI programs
  • HACCP and Food Safety : practical and theoretical knowledge
  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience developing Quality Programs
  • Knowledge of the principles of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing would be considered an asset
  • A history of meeting and exceeding challenging performance goals; a desire to “win”
  • Ability to perform tasks effectively both individually and as a member of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel to manage and analyze quality data
