H55 is comforting its position as a major enabler in the electric aviation market by having integrated and flown 4 electric airplanes, having gained various Canadian customers and the recent announcement of a new facility in Longueuil.

About the role
As Quality and E&HS Specialist , you will be responsible for ensuring that our Longueuil operations comply with the highest standards of quality assurance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
This position plays a dual role. While directly reporting to the Managing Director in Canada, this person shall link to H55 functions based in our headquarters in Switzerland to ensure alignment on application of best practices on the following disciplines.

  • Quality: supporting all quality aspects of H55 activities in Canada (process control, production, incoming inspection and non-conformity management), while ensuring alignment with H55’s Quality Management System (QMS) and the directives of the Quality Manager in Switzerland.
  • HSE: supporting all health, safety, and environmental aspects of H55 activities in Canada (facilities, test, and production), ensuring compliance with local regulations and company standards, while promoting a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement, and functionally reporting to the Safety Manager in Switzerland.

You will be the local QHSE point of contact in Canada, ensuring compliance with international standards while enabling smooth day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

Quality

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with H55 HQ standards & procedures to support production needs
  • Contribute to quality across the full value chain: process control, production, inspections and supplier quality.Conduct internal audits, support external audits in coordination with H55 HQ, and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Conduct product audits and issue product certificates of conformity
  • Manage the product & part non-conformities (including customer claims).
  • Lead root-cause analysis and problem-solving with suppliers and internal teams (5 Whys, 8D).
  • Maintain quality documentation and report Canadian quality performance to HQ.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of quality through coaching and awareness initiatives.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian regulations (CNESST, Transport Canada, provincial/federal requirements) and H55 internal standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and deliver safety awareness training.
  • Investigate incidents, lead root-cause analysis, and ensure implementation of corrective/preventive measures.
  • Monitor and report safety and environmental performance indicators.
  • Act as a liason with the Safety Manager in Switzerland to ensure alignment with H55’s global HSE standards.
  • Maintain HSE documentation and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives in HSE practices and processes.
  • Act as the local contact for the Safety Manager in Switzerland to ensure coordination with H55’s global HSE strategy.

Additional Compliance & Support

  • Support awareness and compliance with export control regulations (ITAR, EAR, Canadian Export Controls) as relevant to Canadian operations.
  • Act as a liaison with headquarter for H55 Canada management ensuring QHSE alignment with global standards.

Your Profile

  • University degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
  • 7+ years’ experience in quality, in aerospace or other regulated industries.
  • 5+ years’ experience and health & safety management, ideally in aerospace or other regulated industries.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 and practical auditing experience.
  • Familiarity with Canadian and Quebec regulatory landscape, including health & safety regulations (CNESST, Transport Canada) and environmental compliance.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, risk assessments and continuous improvement tools.
  • Proven ability to promote a culture of quality and safety, and coach teams on best practices.
  • Soft skills : Adaptable (new product/new plant), strong analytical and summarizing skills, pragmatic, proactive, rigorous
  • Fluent in English and French (written and spoken).

Preferred:

  • Experience in aerospace or certification-driven industries.
  • Training in Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing and HSE management system
  • Knowledge of FMEA, SPC, PLM, ERP systems.
  • Understanding of export control requirements.
  • This role may require rare travelling to our headquarters in Switzerland.
