Job summary

A leading RF communications technology firm in Toronto is seeking an Inspector to ensure quality control in electronic assemblies. Responsibilities include inspecting products to IPC-A-610 standards, generating reports of discrepancies, and entering data into various databases. The ideal candidate has a diploma in Electronics engineering, plus experience in a high-volume production environment and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in electronics assembly inspection.
  • Familiar with ESD and cleanroom practices.
  • Able to generate Non-conformance reports.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect electronic assemblies to IPC-A-610 standards.
  • Input data into Incoming and Shelf Life databases.
  • Notify managers about quality issues.

Responsibilities
  1. Inspect Electronic assemblies according to IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards (Aerospace, Defense or Automotive Manufacturing Industry) with minimum 2 years’ experience.
  2. Ability to read and interpret PCB drawings, Outline drawings, Main integration and subassembly Travelers Drawings, Parts list and follow QA Checklists.
  3. Knowledge of production process flow.
  4. Previous experience in AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) and X-ray is an asset.
  5. Use measurement tools such as Vernier Caliper, Pin gages, Multi-meters, weighing scale etc.
  6. Inspect assemblies, sub-assemblies, wire harnesses, cables and housings according to drawings and schematics.
  7. Inspect products to ensure that they meet specifications.
  8. Input date into Incoming database and Shelf Life database.
  9. Record inspected parts in QA inspection log-sheets and post completed items in MRP system.
  10. Notify Manager / Engineers about quality issues.
  11. Raise NCR / Anomaly / Discrepancy reports with photographs of defects, as applicable.
  12. Collect record and summarize inspection results.
  13. Prepare first pass yield and prepare NCRs and Deviations in the database.
  14. Monitor Shelf life database to track expiration dates until disposition.
Qualifications

Education: Diploma / Certification in Electronics engineering.

  • Must be able to read and understand drawings, schematics and instructions and BOM (Bill of Materials)
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-600 Class 3 requirements
  • Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 Quality management and Production process flow in SMT production
  • Familiar with ESD and Clean room electronic industry practices
  • Able to generate Non-conformance reports and Discrepancy Reports with photographs, explaining defects
  • Computer skills for Excel and word
  • Excellent hand / eye coordination, handling electronic components using microscopes
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Multi-tasking in a high volume production environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Communication skills to interact with other departments such as Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Shipping etc.
